I'll start with Homer, who is a lovable oaf who is just impossible not to like, especially since he always comes through in the end, even though it's clear that he never quite learns his lesson. In more recent seasons he has become a bit more obnoxious, but it is made clear that he is not a bad person, just not very smart. Bart is the bratty 10 year old who actually has a really big heart. The series shows that he is more than just a little pest and that he is willing to go the extra mile to do the right thing. Lisa is the child genius who just wants to make the world a better place. Marge is the housewife who loves her children and her husband with all her heart. And Maggie... she loves her pacifier. Not forgetting Abe Simpson, Homer's senile father who loves to tell stories of the old days. Unfourunately for him, very few of the stories actually make sense.
So far there have been more than 400 episodes, and I have watched almost all of them. Most of them I've seen many times. Many of the episode focus on the relationships between the family members. For example Life on the Fast Lane focuses on the relationship between Homer and Marge, Lisa on Ice focuses on Bart and Lisa, Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy focuses on Homer and Abe, and Make Room For Lisa focuses on Homer and Lisa. These are just a few examples of many.
