entourage stars Adrian Grenier (Vince) and Kevin Connelly (eric or "E") as two best friends who make their way through Hollywood by way of a manager/client relationship as well as best friends. they are also accompanied by their two best pals: Kevin Dillon plays "johnny drama", Vince's hilarious (way) older brother. jerry ferrara plays turtle, who is basically the funny free-loader and Vince's biggest fan.

entourage is anyone's show. i didn't start watching it until the second episode of the second season, but i got the first season DVD as soon as i saw it, because i knew it was a show that i was gonna love. sure enough i was right, and now it's grown to be (what i think) the best show on TV.

I'm not sure who's posting on this board but I have to throw something up here. Doug Ellin has created and then continued to write a show which I admire and love. I'm not even a TV watcher. I watch movies and sports mostly. I like to attend parties, sporting events and have a good time with my friends. As I age, the friends I still have and find are raising the stakes and living some of our dreams-our way. Simply put this show is more like my life, what I'm doing and what I hope to do than any other thing I have seen. Of course Woody Allen's Celebrity put me on the path but it feels like this has really captured it. No doubt there have been many others but this one finds me at the perfect time. My friends and I relate to it. Doug and everyone involved perfect 10. Thanks and keep it rolling.

The characters are the most likable bunch ever to trek through space, and what they lack in internal conflict they make up for by being intelligent and interesting. Captain Picard is not the bare-chested action hero that Kirk was, but he's smarter, more thoughtful, and actually takes the time to think about the ethical consequences of his actions. To see Patrick Stewart dig his teeth into an impassioned speech is a joy, even many years after first watching it.

Brent Spiner also stands out as the android Data, Spock's opposite yet kindred spirit. Where Spock repressed his emotions and was disdainful of illogical humans, Data is curious about our foibles and aspires to be more like us. That implies that being human is not a curse, but something noble and wonderful.

The rest of the cast might be less exciting than those two, but by and large the caliber of the actors and the quality of character development is more consistent in this series than any other Trek show. These are heroes you can respect, intended to represent the best humanity has to offer. And for the record, Wesley Crusher is not so incredibly irritating as everyone claims he is.

The special effects have held up very well for a show that debuted in 1987. The "futuristic" look and feel of the sets and costumes largely prevent it looking like a time capsule. The idea here is not to create long story arcs and extended plots, but to make each hour a satisfying story in itself. This style has fallen out of favor in recent years and many people now look down on it; in its defense, it means you can watch any episode from the seven seasons and not have to worry about what happened last week.

The first two seasons are rough and inconsistent, vacillating between fair and awful episodes, but after that things pick up with only a few bad hours per season. Towards the end it started to get a little formulaic, the music turned to muzak, and there was a heavy emphasis on trivial details of alien races which would set the tone for the subsequent spin off, Deep Space 9. Apart from those minor reservations, this show is head and shoulders above everything else offered to us under the title "Star Trek" in the past fifteen years.
