3000 Mile Productions Announces the Development of "Last Rights," a 24-Episode Web Series

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 6, 2011 -- Los Angeles, CA -- August 28, 2011 -- 3000 Mile Productions, an independent film production company, announces the development of "Last Rights," a new 24-episode web series.

To raise funds for the first level of financing, 3000 Mile Productions is taking the unique step of placing their project on KickStarter.com, the largest online funding platform for creative projects in the world. Fans of the project can make contributions to the production of the project, which goes entirely to the final funding of the web series. Contributors will receive benefits based on their level of donation receiving everything from a DVD of the entire web series to, executive credits, and small business sponsorships.

Last Rights features 24, 6-minute webisodes about a house in which 4 caretakers test their guests to see who leaves and who dies.

"Last Rights is an opportunity for us to present something creative and new; a kind of 'Lost-meets-Harry Potter' packaged as a web series," says Jason Dallas, head of development at 3000 Mile Productions. "This is the first time we've used KickStarter.com for funding, and are excited to see how many people will get involved with this project and look forward to working with each contributor."

Last Rights explores the struggle of those who have answered an ad and accepted a deal from a negotiator named Concord. Concord negotiates to allow access to Nirvana, where all worldly troubles disappear. In exchange, those who accept must give him all worldly possessions and stay in a house for one week. In the house are four caretakers that test each participant to see if they qualify for Nirvana or if they end up in the graveyard behind the house.

The episodes explore questions of faith, morality, tolerance, and common sense. Each week, Concord returns to the house to evaluate the participants and decide the fate of each guest and of the caretakers.

FILM SYNOPSIS

AN AFFAIR OF THE HEART: The Journey of Rick Springfield and his Devoted Fans is a new feature-length documentary about rock icon Rick Springfield and his ardently loyal fan base. Directed/produced by Emmy® winning filmmaker Sylvia Caminer and executive produced/marketed by Melanie Lentz-Janney, this documentary not only brings us face to face with Grammy® winning musician, songwriter, actor, and soon to be author, Rick Springfield, but also sheds light on his most fervent fans, casting a non-judgmental, unflinching eye on what makes his fans as passionate about him today as they were when Jessie’s Girl was #1 (circa 1981).

Everyone seems to grasp how celebrities like The Beatles and the Grateful Dead have a fan base of rabid supporters who travel the world as an homage to their idols … but Rick Springfield? Yes, it’s true … Rick Springfield fans are some of the most dedicated and fanatical people on the planet … often living out of a suitcase or taking a second job just to get their much needed “Rick Fix”.

Join us as we discover what it is about Rick and his music that drives his fans to such religious devotion; What meaning has he had in their lives; What kind of impact has he made over the years to his fans; and why do his fans travel across the country to see him time and time again. We also find out from Rick what he truly thinks about his fans and what it’s like to be the source of such timeless affection. In essence, what is this everlasting “affair of the heart” all about?

On the journey, we meet some of Rick’s most devoted fans and get a full picture of them as well as Rick’s career over the past four decades which includes highlights from his television roles/appearances, concerts, the annual Rick Springfield and Friends Cruise, his book release, press tour, and more. It’s a real glimpse at Rick the “artist” and the “human being”.

This documentary is much more than an intense look at Rick Springfield. It’s a human- interest story about following dreams, connecting with like-minded people on our personal journeys, and the importance of taking a break from our busy, stressful lives for some good, clean fun reminiscent of our adolescence or simpler days.
